Anita Shapira is the Ruben Merenfeld Professor of the Study of Zionism and head of the Weizmann Institute for the Study of Zionism at Tel Aviv University. She founded the Yitzhak Rabin Center for Israel Studies in 1996 and was head of the Center until 1999. Shapira is currently currently the President of the Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture. Her most recent book is Land and Power: The Zionist Resort to Force. Born in Poland, Shapira made Aliyah in 1947. She lives in Israel with her husband and three children.
