David G. Roskies is Professor of Jewish Literature at the Jewish Theological Seminary. He is the author of The Jewish Search for a Usable Past, A Bridge of Longing: The Lost Art of Yiddish Storytelling, and Against the Apocalypse: Catastrophe in Modern Jewish Culture, for which he was awarded the Ralph Waldo Emerson Prize by Phi Beta Kappa.
